The safest route is rarely to build everything from day one. It’s to build an MVP: the smallest version of the product that genuinely solves a customer’s problem.

This guide explains what an MVP is, when you need one, and what drives its cost.

What is an MVP?

An MVP (Minimum Viable Product) is a product with the fewest possible features that is still good enough for real people to use. It isn’t a rough demo or a mock-up. It works; it just does one thing well instead of ten things badly.

A good MVP doesn’t answer “can we build it?”. It answers “does anyone want it?”.

Why start with an MVP

You find out early whether the idea works

Evidence from real users is worth more than any market research. You see what people use, what they ignore and what they would pay for.

You spend less before the big decisions

Instead of committing your whole budget to a full product, you invest part of it and decide the next steps based on data.

You convince partners and investors

A product that people already use, even a few of them, is far more convincing than a slide deck.

What it should include

To stay small and useful, an MVP usually needs:

one core feature that solves the main problem,

simple sign-up or log-in,

a way to measure usage (analytics),

an easy way to collect feedback from users.

Everything else (notifications, user roles, advanced reports) can wait for version two.

How much does an MVP cost?

There is no single price, because every product is different. Four factors drive most of the cost:

Features: how many screens and flows you need from day one.

Platforms: web, iOS, Android, or a combination.

Design: ready-made components or a fully custom UI/UX.

Integrations: payments, ERP, CRM or other external systems.

The exact price depends on what goes into the first version and what waits for later. That’s why we always start by agreeing the scope together.

In short

An MVP lets you test your idea with real users, with less risk and lower cost.
